About the Artist

Cheryl Suitor – Artist and Painting Instructor

Cheryl Suitor earned a Bachelor’s degree in art education from The University of Maryland in 1984, and a Master’s degree from Towson State University in 1994.  Mrs. Suitor has been a dedicated, highly motivated and energetic elementary school art teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools with 36 years teaching experience. Mrs. Suitor teaches adult beginner painting classes at local venues and has also been a volunteer art teacher at the Loudoun Senior Center. She has exhibited in local galleries in Loudoun and Clarke Counties. Many of her original oil paintings hang in private collections in Virginia and Maryland.  She also paints pet portraits for friends, neighbors and private commissions. In addition to teaching art for Loudoun County Public Schools, she has started an online art club for children of all ages where students can follow her step-by-step instructions. Each month a new series of lessons is added to inspire and challenge students minds to enjoy art history, science, drawing, painting and new art techniques and skills.

Her love of the outdoors inspired her to paint a series of endangered animals to raise an awareness of the need to protect our most vulnerable and majestic species. Each work of art is an original oil painting created in her home studio.

Mrs. Suitor is a dedicated studio artist who stives to motivate others to feel the absolute majesty and grandeur of our nation’s most precious resource, our state and national parks. Through her paintings, she emphasizes a fleeting glimpse in time to highlight a sunset, a crisp fall morning or the wonder of dripping stalactites in a cave.
